Skills City Limited operates in the Trafford area of Manchester. Their learners range from the workforce – ie small businesses to the local community. A variety of teaching methods are employed to suit learners’ needs, including group workshops and bespoke training.
The Skills City centre is well equipped with a break out area, including refreshment facilities and a lending library where learners have access to books that they can borrow to assist them in developing their reading skills. The centre is fully DDA compliant with full wheelchair access, ample workstation space, height adjustable chairs and wrist rests.
A wide range of courses and qualifications are offered, including Skills for Life, ICT, (ECDL and CLAIT) and management (ILM), and more recently Employability courses aimed at the unemployed and those being made redundant. This helps businesses to retrain their workforce and equips them with the skills required to enable them to move forward following redundancy. The staff believe that the high level of pastoral care given contributes significantly to the centre’s impressive 92% success rate.
Over the last twelve months Skills City Limited has expanded but their focus remains firmly on the learner, their requirements and improving their experience. It is a business with local businesses and community at its heart. This is evident not only from learner satisfaction findings, but also in the centre’s mission statement – “We pride ourselves on your success”.
