NVQs

NVQs are designed to meet the needs of today’s businesses – they can be targeted towards your requirements, so it’s best to discuss your needs at your local centre.
Skills City delivers NVQs in a flexible and practical way to ensure they meet the needs of your business without disrupting the schedules of your employees. The qualifications are structured so your employees can be trained through online courses at a time, pace and place to suit the business, as well as being assessed at work.
They are available to all ages, at any career stage and no previous qualifications are necessary. As the skills are assessed through work-based evidence, there are no ‘end of unit’ tests or exams. Certification is based purely on evidence of the skills.
An NVQ comprises several units which can be tailored to reflect the job that an employee is carrying out and the skills they need to perform. Each unit is made up of a number of national occupational standards that cover all the main aspects of a job.
How will NVQs help your business?
- Tailor learning and assessment around work plans so it fits in with the working day
- A useful tool to re-skill your staff to relevant national standards
- Help your business meet the requirements for ISO and IIP
- By demonstrating a commitment to employee development – many companies who support NVQs see a reduction in staff turnover and sickness levels, in addition to a more positive and committed workforce
- By boosting the confidence of employees with few or no formal qualifications since NVQs are ‘learning by doing’ with no tests or exam
Below is a list of NVQs that Skills City currently offer (more will come on board in 2009)
- Business and Administration NVQ
- Customer Service NVQ
- ITQ
- Management NVQ
- Team Leading NVQ
